A scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the spine, but what else is there to it?

There are a number of causes to scoliosis. Polio, genes, bad posture, and a slight difference in leg length are among the causes of scoliosis. The symptoms may not be clearly visible upon early onset - which usually starts during infancy to early adolescence - but the manifestations are permanent.

Among the things you have to deal with are chronic back pain coupled with muscle fatigue. There are things you can do to alleviate or minimize the frequent pain that you're experiencing. Apart from going to a physical therapist, there are a host of other things you can do.

Ergonomics is key

An orthopedic bed and chair is necessary to give proper support to the spine. Sleeping and sitting is an activity that you do for hours, and without ample back support you will tend to experience back pain.

Stretch a lot

Stretching is provn to temporarily relieve back pain. If you happen to feel your back hurting, it's probably because the muscles are in need of a little activity.

Take a sport

Most of the time, the back muscles are weak that they give way to the curvature. Strengthen your back muscles through intensive sports like yoga, swimming, and dancing. This makes your muscles capable of supporting the curvature of the spine.

Scoliosis doesn't have to ruin your life. With proper management, you'll be able to live past the pain.
