Ten benefits of Rebounding

Rebounding is an excellent form of physical activity that can benefit people of all ages and fitness levels. It is low-impact and has a variety of unique benefits that make it a great choice for anyone looking to get in shape.

Personally, I love rebounding because it reminds me of being a kid outside on the trampoline and always puts a smile on my face.  With some dance beats playing in the background I can really take the fun up a notch and get nice and warmed up for the rest of my workout. Bouncing is invigorating - better than coffee for getting your body moving and energized.

For extra points, position your rebounder in front of a mirror where you can see yourself and make sure you smile for the mirror.  Seeing your own smiling face will enhance the good feelings and put you in a great mood for the rest of your day!

Here are ten ways that rebounding can help improve your overall health and wellbeing.

  1. Improved balance and coordination
  2. Increased strength and endurance
  3. Improved lymphatic circulation
  4. Improved respiratory function
  5. Strengthens bones and joints
  6. Improved body posture
  7. Low impact exercise for less strain on the body
  8. Improved heart health and circulation
  9. Increased calorie burning
  10. Reduced stress levels and improved mood

One of the most obvious benefits of rebounding is that it is a great way to get a full body workout. Because the motion involves bouncing up and down on a mini trampoline, it works muscles in the legs, core, arms, and back. This helps to strengthen and tone your body, as well as improve balance, coordination, and overall fitness. With regular rebounding, you can expect to see an increase in both strength and endurance.

Rebounding is also great for weight loss. Because it is a form of aerobic exercise, it can help to burn a significant number of calories. In fact, studies have shown that rebounding can burn up to three times more calories than running on a treadmill. This makes it an ideal choice for anyone looking to lose weight in a fun, low-impact way.

Rebounding has been shown to have many mental health benefits. It can reduce stress and help to increase focus and clarity. This can be especially beneficial for those who are struggling with anxiety and depression. Additionally, it can help to improve self-esteem and create a more positive outlook on life.

Finally, rebounding can be a great way to get some much-needed “me time.” Taking time out of your day to focus on something just for you can help to reduce stress and clear your mind. Don't save it just for your morning routine or workout warm-ups. Rebounding is a fun and enjoyable activity that can help to boost your mood and make you feel more energized at any time of the day.

Overall, rebounding is an excellent form of physical activity that can benefit people of all ages and fitness levels. It is low-impact and has a variety of unique benefits that make it a great choice for anyone looking to get in shape. Whether you are looking to lose weight, increase your strength, or just take a break from the everyday stresses of life, rebounding can provide the perfect solution.

Where to buy? In Australia rebounders aka mini tramps are available at sports stores such as Decathlon and Rebel Sport, discount stores such as Big W, and many online shopping sites such as Kogan as well as specialty online stores.  Online prices generally range from AUD $70 to $150. Most mini tramps have a maximum weight limit of 120kg.  There are 2 types of springs, metal springs and elastic springs. In general elastic springs will be less noisy while you are jumping. I have metal springs and everyone in my house knows when I'm using it! Most have screw in legs however some have folding legs, and others even fold in-half for shipping.  The heights can vary by a few centimeters and I like mine as it is short enough to slide under my bed for easy storage which also makes it quick to whip out and get jumping. Standing it up against the wall is also a way to conserve space while its not in use.

Some rebounders come with a detachable bar. This is not a feature I look for as it will deter you from rebounding with good posture and developing balance and also makes the rebounder more difficult to store. If falling is a concern for you, position the tramp near a wall and use the wall for a little support as you get on or off. Start with bounces that leave your feet in contact with the mat until you gain confidence to bounce higher.
