Chanel Haute Couture Collection-Paris Fashion Week

Karl Lagerfeld created a gorgeous fall/winter line for Chanel. Premiering at the Grand Palais in the City of Lights and Love, the models wind their way through the giant statue of a gold lion.

The gold lion very much represents the collection...metallic, ornate, majestic, and larger than life...much like the collection's creator Karl, as well as the original Coco (who was a Leo)...they all seem to share the same qualities.

The show features rich and beautiful coats, dresses, and separates all in a variety of hues that do bring about feelings of fall and winter-without having much black. This was quite a shock to the press and guests of the show who were wondering how could there be a fall/winter line without a debut of a new must-have little black dress? What will all those socialites wear to the parties? Lagerfeld responds, “every woman already has a little black dress in her wardrobe anyway.” So true Karl, so true.

This collection is actually pretty subdued for a "haute couture" line, it is all relatively wearable. Lots of shine, sequins, jewels, and plating. He plays with proportions, nothing is floor length and the sleeves are not full. You can see the inspiration from the orient and middle east. And how about all those boots? What do you think about them? Check out the video of the show here.
